The advantages and disadvantages of six architectural model materials

Buildings are a product of life, and the formation process of buildings must be assisted by architectural models. So that the use of the model is very extensive. There are currently six types of model materials on the market, each with its own advantages and disadvantages.

One: Paper model materials:

Advantages: high quality, low price, low cost, wide range of applications; variety, specifications, colors, easy cutting, processing, deformation, and modeling; express performance quickly.

Disadvantages: The material has poor physical properties, low strength, strong moisture absorption, and is easily deformed by moisture. In the modeling process, the bonding speed is very slow, and it is not easy to trim after forming.

Two: plastic model materials

Advantages: light weight, high strength, good chemical resistance, insulation and abrasion resistance (except foam). Thermoplastics can also be thermoformed (such as polyvinyl chloride, plexiglass, ABS plastic), and the molding effect is good.

Disadvantages: processing will be a little troublesome, time-consuming and laborious.

Three: wooden model materials

Advantages: light weight, low density, good plasticity, easy processing, easy polishing, beautiful materials and colors.

Disadvantages: flammable, easy to damage to mosquitoes, cracks and bending deformation.

Four: Plaster model materials

Advantages: Although it is easy to mold, it has a good place for easy casting, turning, template scraping, refining rough machining and skeleton casting.

Disadvantages: too heavy, difficult to move, easy to damage, and poor connection with other materials.

Five: FRP model materials:

Advantages: high strength, good damage safety, excellent molding process, and mass products can be produced. In addition, it has good application performance in material handling and other aspects. FRP surface coatings, especially large-scale products produced later.

Disadvantages: poor wear resistance, troublesome mold making.

Six: sludge model materials

Advantages: easy to process, strong plastic, not easy to crack on the surface, polished after shaving and scratching. It can also be repeatedly modified and recycled, so it is more suitable for making complex large models.

Disadvantages: On the one hand, the accuracy of the model size is difficult to grasp, and accurate lofting or three-point measurement and symmetrical positioning must be used to effectively ensure the accuracy of the shape.
